Now that winter is here and you already know how Delhi winters are. Winter months can put your hair and scalp under a lot of stress. My hair starts becoming weak and becomes more susceptible to damage and breakage, I am sure this must be the case with all of us. It becomes very important for us to take care of our skin as well as hair. Here are five hair care tips which I follow and will also help you to maintain healthy and beautiful hair this season.
1. Keep your hair and scalp hydrated:
Go for deep conditioning once a week. Use coconut oil or any hair oil which suits you to massage your scalp and leave it on for 2-3 hours or overnight as time permits. There are also ready-made hair masques available in the market, you can try that too. If you’re dehydrated on the inside, it will show on the outside too so make sure you
Go for good shampoo and conditioner which doesn’t dry out your scalp. You can try using anti-hair fall shampoos like Hair for Sure , Pantene etc. to prevent hair fall in winters. Drink plenty of water to help keep your hair and scalp hydrated.
2. Protect your hair from the elements:
Cold, wet winter weather can take its toll on your hair. Cover your head with a scarf or wear a beanie to protect. To protect from static, which is caused by rubbing plastic or wool against your hair, it is advisable to cover your hair in a silk scarf before putting on your cozy beanie or cap.
3. Avoid over-styling your hair :
Limit the use of hair styling tools like straighteners , curling iron and hair dryers. Heat can dry out your hair and scalp, increasing the risk of damage. Apply heat protectants before you style your hair and invest in good hair mask which can repair your damaged hair due to heat. You can check review of hair dryers available here.
4. Wash your hair in warm or cool water :
You might be tempted to use hot water looking at the chill, but try to avoid washing your hair in very hot water. It damages your scalp and hair, and leads to dandruff. Hot water destroys the moisture and texture of your hair, it takes away the natural oil. It is recommended to use warm or cool water to avoid damage and also you can keep washing your hair to a minimum, say two times a week, this will prevent your hair from drying out too much.
5. Trim your hair regularly:
Just because it’s winter that doesn’t mean that you do not get your hair trimmed. Trims are a great way to keep your hair in good health during the winter months as well – every six to eight weeks, just get a light dusting of the ends to help reduce the chance of dry, splitting ends.
