I am sure you all are aware of makhana and you must have had this during fasting.  Well, do you know that this desi snack is full of fibers and is low in calories! which makes this as a preferred evening snacks item. I was recommended to have makhanas by my dietician in order to reduce weight and trust me they are filling and are good substitute to junk food which I used to have in the evening around 4 pm.

I did a little research on this and I thought of sharing with you all the health benefits of makhanas:
  1. It’s good source of protein, fibre, carbs, magnesium, potassium, iron and zinc
  2. It is high in fiber and low in calories when eaten wisely it helps in weight loss
  3. It’s good for people suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity
  4. It’s low in GI compared to other carbs like rice, bread etc

I enjoy having roasted Makhana seeds, I add a dash of ghee and roast them on hot tava, in the end, I add seasoning. Even Kareena Kapoor swears by this magical makhana. I recently came across a brand which I feel you should also be aware of is

Mr. Makhana:

It’s Delhi-NCR based brand and offers roasted makhanas in different flavours and it is quite easy on the pocket. For a person like me who is always on move these packets are quite handy,  just keep 1 in your bag and it fulfills my short hunger pangs. The flavours range from Peri Peri Paradise, Cream & Onion, Pudina Party to Himalayan Salt and many more to suit the Indian palette. Different flavours have different health benefits ranging from digestion to healthy lungs. With its properties, makhanas are light on the body and the perfect indulgence for snacking purposes.

Do I recommend this:

I am quite impressed as Mr. Makhana is a brand that is set to promote a healthy and nutrition inspired lifestyle.
